Terminal Talk

How was your chemo?
Alright. Nauseous. Your muscle biopsy?
Inconclusive.
Means "No fricking idea", right?
Ha.
How are the tremours?
Status quo. Can still sign cheques.
Still working from home?
Yes. Miss all the office gossip.
Want to do a play on Saturday?
No, got chemo. Sunday?
Sorry, my acupuncture is on Sunday.

Thank God we won't have old age!
I know!

A black and bleak phase; one that brought out all the funny dark spots. An actual conversation that sounded surrealistic... that's all.

Is the last line conclusive of something very profound , I mean something to do wid philosophy of living ??!

Pramod Shankar said...

@ Vinutha: no philosophy, just a humorous take on being terminally ill!

mixed feelings after reading this one PS, don't know whether to be gloomy with the content, or to appreciate you for the poem..

@ Shrilatha: I know, Shri. take this as a rare piece of self-indulgence.

@ Laksh: the auto was a great bit of inspiration. The verse, a bit of catharsis!
@ Kiran: Thanks. Will guard the sense of humour with my life!
